He remains in the Vernon County Jail in lieu of $4,000 bond on the charge and also is held on earlier charges of felonious assault.According to official records, Huckaby escaped March 4 or 5 from the jail at Nevada by sawing through cell bars.for the arrest and conviction of the person or persons Involved in the slaying of Carolyn Sue Neely, 16, Joplin, formerly of Carthage.The girl’s nude and partially decomposed body was found buried beneath an abandoned privy on the old Boy Scout camp north of 1-44 near M-43. The body was found March 2 by a party of hunters. The girl had been missing since Dec. 9.A pathologist’s report indicated she was struck on the head and liver by blows sufficient to cause death in each case. Officers from the Joplin Police Department and the Newton County Sheriff’s office are assigned fulltime to the case.
