Authorities regarded the shooting as the outcome of a hi-jacking feud.The two men came to bis home and stated that they were prohibition men who wanted him to show them that still near Anston.” When he demanded that they show their badges they opened fire, wounding Nier, and narrowly missing his two children. Nier returned the fire and the men fled.Nier said he believed he had wounded one or both.
