Victim of GunmenDies in Green BayGREEN BAY. AVis., March 18.—(/P)—Walter Nier. 2 8. died in a hospital here today from the effects of three bullet wounds inflicted l*y two gunmen who came to his home Monday night posingas prohibition agents. Authorities regarded the shooting as the outcome of a hi-jacking feud.The two men came to his home and stated that they were prohibition men who wanted him to showthem “that still near Anston.” When he demanded that they show their badges they opened lire, wounding Nier. and narrowl\missing his two children. Nier returned the fire and the men fled.Nier said he believed he had wounded one or both. He told officers he believed that tbev were‘‘alky makers who blamed himfor the “tipoff that resulted in the raid on an alcohol plant a few days before He claimed not to know the men.
