Maceo, at the time of the accident, is said to have been rushing to Beaumont j;ci that his passenger might 'ndt miss her train..•The accident occurred when Maceo apparently lost control of his automobile In the looBe gravel of the highway about a mile this side of Ben Lomond, which Is about 30 miles north of Texarkana. The left side of his big sedan , was torn completely away, and he is said to have become trapped In the twisted wreckage. ••*Relatives of Mr. Maceo said this morning that he was somewhat Improved after an operation, although he in still In a. critical condition. Dr. J. L. Jlnkins of Galveston went to Texarkana to attend the Injured man.
