Jno. Knowlton Is One Charged With Embezzlement.POOR FARM AND JAILLegal Notes and Items of Interest From Temple of Justice-General Court News.The grand jury returned three indie tments yesterday afternoon at four o'clock and filed their report of the conditions existing at the county infirmary and the jail.One of the indictments was against John Knowlton, the absconding constable of Elkhart, and he is charged with the embezzlement of funds paid into his hands as an officer. The whereabouts of Knowlton are yet unknown, and it may be that as a means of bringing satisfaction and peade to the people in general the indictment will not be pushed as long as Knowlton remains a long distance away. He embezzled money at every opportunity, and the rich and the poor alike suffered from his criminal conduct.
