Beal Game Hero Inteodlog to Commit Murder and Su nirte.A Letter Discovered In Which He Dls closes His Intention and StatesBis Heasons Therefor.Wednesday when A R Beals attempted to kill his wife and commit suicide, public sympathy appeared to ba with him and the opinion teamed general that it was a sudden rash act caused by him in his disappointment at his unsuccessful attempt to get his wife to return with him. Later developments indicate that the act was permediated and that he had fully determined on it last Monday, and before, as he admits, he went to the home of bismother in*law armed with a revolver. In searching him Marshal Rice decovered a sealed letter addressed to the Telegraph,iu which he clearly stated his evil intention and named tho parlies whom he desired notified of his tragio end. The letter is as follows:Citt, March 12, 1894.I wish for the citizens, people of Dubuque, to look up the history of the Uitchcock family. 1 married Miss Helen Carter in 1392 at Hartford City, Ind., now reside at 1678 Washington street, Dubuque. Her mother and aunt have turned her agaiust me 1 cannot live without wife aud child. He is not at ail dangerously wounded, though be is almost prostrated with nervousness and ixcitement.Ha wife is also reported much better She is still very weak, and is suffering considerable pain, but so far there is no symptom of a complication and her physician locks for her speedy recovery.The case against Beal will not come up before the grand jury until the May termby which tim^ it is thought his wife will be able to attend as a witness.
