Truck Driver Tells Deputies Of BeatingSheriff's officers today were investigating an attack on a Monterey truck driver who was cut on the neck, apparently by one of two men he met in a Mill Valley bar.The victim, Clarence Eugene Mowery, 36, was treated at Marin General Hospital at 12:40 a.m. today for the cut.Deputies said Mowery, who first said he was injured in a fall, then told them he met the men and a woman in the bar about midnight. They accompanied him to his parked moving van at Oaktree Restaurant near the Richardson Bay Bridge.Mowrey said that before he could start the truck, the two men grabbed him and one accused him of “insulting my wife.” He said he wasn't aware he was cut until passers-by noticed he was bleeding. A res-turant client took him to the hospital.
