Murder TodayVictim Died From Wounds, Exposure••A murder warrant was issued by the Commonwealth’s Attorney today for a Pulaski County man in connection with the'death of Edgar Willis Smith .Alton I. Crowell said thismorning the warrant will be executed by a the Sheriff’s . Department. He said Curtis Weeks, 25, has been charged with homicide on the basis that he “inflicted knffe wounds and left Smith a-lone in the weather.” Crowell said Weeks left Smith knowing “he (Smith) had been cut up and the weather was such that he would likely die from the results.”The warrant was based on the ; fact that Smith died early Monday morning of last week from a combination of knife wounds and exposure, according to an autopsy report.Weeks, of Snowvill , rushed to the Pulaski Hospital about j 7:30 a.m- last Monady after j Smith’s body was found on route 605 beside a cisr owned, by Weeks’ wife. Weeks., was. in the a mile away from the scene, home of a neighbor about 1/5 ofAn autopsy report staged that Smith’s death was due to-exposure. However the report said that the death was contributed to by wounds inflicted by a sharp instrument and his physical condition.Weeks claimed that the cuts on Smithy face were caused by a “wire fence”. However, the county medical examiner said last week the autopsy report indicated I the lacerations were made by a i sharp instrument such as a knife, j Deputy Roy Whitaker said this morning that * the knife has not been found.
