Beneti at LibertyOn Bond; IncomeFor 'the first time in. the history* of the state a Nevada man -will be prosecuted unde* income tax evasion lavra.Angelo Benetti, veil known Beno and Sparks liquor and slot machine dealer, is at liberty on $10,000 bondfollowing his arrest iate Thursday for allegedly filing false income tax statements for the years 1929, 1930 and, 1931. 7Benelti was arrested following indictment by the federal grand yury Thursday The indictment was re-, turned on, evidence laid before m2-come tax agents who have asjsenedly beett working on the case foi some time.The indictment, containing three .counts, alleges Benetts defrauded^the federal government of approximately $28,000 m income tax during the three-year period Benetti assertedly paid income tax of 55934 in 1929 when he filed his net income return of $19,45710 The government, in its indictment, alleges his 3929 income was $107,587 05 and that he should have paid a tax of $16,-S91 88According to Benetti's 1930 statement, his totalfincome for that year .was $10,10198 and he paid a tax jf $8211 The government alleges his net income for that year was $69,-2S9 01 -and that he should have paid $S,7Ea.S7 in taxes In 1931, the indictment aS'.erts, his net income was 2y,78€j57, while Ben-etii allegedly showed a. return of only $8,122 20 and paid a tax of $50 37 The government claims he should have paid. $1,733 67 in taxes that year United States District Attorney B P Carville said last night' he d.d not know when Benetti would be arraigned, but probably as soon as the; 1 after’s attorney returned to Reno : It is understood William McKmght will be Benetti’s attorney At the same meeting of* the grand jury indictments were returned against nine men accused of selling whisky ttr Indians.
