Q. Shi-mer, last October, married to Arthur Villela, a miner from California, in February, robbed of all her possessions in a strange hotel by her husband last night is the experience of a well known lady of this city. The news of the robbery came from Mrs. Villela to her brother, Will Stewart, of this city, today. According to the story her husband entered her room and at the point of a revolver compelled her to turn over all her money^ and valuables to him and then left her penniless and without a place to pass the night. A short time ago Mrs. Villela disposed of her home in this city for $2,000 and announced to acquaintances that her husband, who was reputed to be wealthy, was negotiating for a $20,000 hotel in Los Angeles, where they intended to make their home. For some reason the trip to the coast has been repeatedly postponed, and a few days ago 'the couple went to Chicago.Shortly after securing a divorce from Mr. Shimer, Mrs. Shimer was called to St. Louis by the illness of , her daughter who was then on the stage. It was while on this -trip that Mrs. Shimer met the rich California miner and the acquaintance formed on the train quickly developed into anengagement and marriage. ^The police of this city have been notified of the robbery at Chicago.
