(AP) - The ljnB truck driver of a truck which, slammed the rear of a schoolr '* bus and kilted one pupil hasbeen jailed on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and without a license, according to slate police.The accused, Leroy J. Welch, 3ft, escaped injury in the crash Friday along U.S. 220 near this Centre County community. He was lodged in the Centre County Jail in lieu of 52,000 bond following arraignment Friday evening.The accident occurred about 3:31 p.m. as the Bald Eagle Area High School bus was carrying about 40 students home from classes.Killed was Jeffrey Bowes of II. D. 1, Howard, who lived his grandfather, the Rev! H.W. Fisher. A spokesman at Lock Haven Hospital said the youth was dead on arrival there. .State, police reported Bowes was in the back seat of the bus, which they said was coming to a stop at the time of the collision.Investigators said the Iraclor-trailer apparently jack knifed to avoid the crash and that the empty flathed slammed into thebus.Three other pupils and the bus driver, Mildred DeHass, were injured slightly.Mrs. DeHass was admitted to Cent re Community Hospital in fair condition, while Deborah Gardner, a pupil, was reported in good condition.
