Rests Case In Rape TrialThe state rested its case late Friday afternoon in the rape trial of Ronald Cloke of Eldon, which opened in Wapello County District Court Thursday.The offense allegedly occurred Sept. 28, 1966. according to Mrs. Sylvia Rock who filed the charge.During questioning by both prosecuting and defense attorneys, Mrs. Rock maintained she had been raped, though was unable to recall details.Direct examination of Mrs. Wanda Stiner, sister-in-law of the plaintiff, revealed Mrs. Rock had arrived at the Stiner home the afternoon of Sept. 28, incoherent, crying, with traces of what appeared to be blood at the corners of her mouth.Mrs. Stiner told the court her sister-in-law told her at the time she had been raped.Also taking the stand were Dr. W. J. Fowler of Eldon, who was called to examine Mrs. Rock, and Eldon Marshal Verlin Johnson. Both testified as to the dishelved appearance of the plaintiff.Ed Canny, former brother-n-law of Mrs. Rock, confirmed Poke's presence in the Rock lome the afternoon of the al-eged offense.The jury is to report Monday it 9:30 a.m.
