Convicts BuildNew 'Alcatraz'BUFORD, Ga., March 10 CAP) — A group of Georgia convicts has designed and built a million-dollar home* one of the best of its kind, but none of them ever wants to live in it.Rock Quarry prison was constructed to house 325 of the state's most hardened and incorrigible criminals.Everything from the architect’s drawings to the last intricate lock and listening device was the work of skilled prisoners. The job was done in nine months.The prison is located ory “Hog Mountain/’ just a few miles from Buford on the site of a former CCC camp. The mountain, got its name in the days when farmers rested there on the way to market with their hogs.State‘.prison officials chose the site because it comprises about 11 acres of solid granite. The tough convicts will dig it out and crush it for use on Georgia’s roads.
