Posse TakesManSlayer Of AgedMan Is CaughtJAY. Feb. 10.—(JP—Charner M. Tidwell, 60, was htld in the Delaware county jail here today after surrendering to members of a posse which tracked him into the Cookson hills of Adair county. He was sought on a warrant charging him with murdering Henry W. Critser, 67, of Stilwell.The posse, led by Undersheriff A. H. Fox of Delaware countyand Sheriff Luke Worlej ofAdair -county picked up Tidwell’strail yesterday, tracing him by his truck.Late in the day, they surrounded the fugitive on the side of a hill. As he watched two members of the posse, others r 1 the dropon him and Fox commanded him to “drop your gun we’ll shoot.” Tidwell yielded his shotgun and was hurried back to Jav,No Bond AllowedCounty Attorney Riley Q. Hunt said the prisoner would be arraigned Friday fr • Critser’s slaying and that no bend would beallowed. Critser was beaten over the head with a hammer Sunday when he drove up with his wife .and two children to visit her par-*ents, the Harve Lawheads, near here.The prosecutor said an infatuation for the 21-year-old wife of Critser apparently furnished the motive for the assault. Critser died Monday.Hunt said Tidwell^ook his 18-vear-old deaf mute daughter with him when he fled. She was found with her father yesterday.According to Hunt, Tidwell served a long federal prison term after his conviction in the U. S. court at Muskogee for murderabout the turn of the century.Prison records disclosed he was released on commutation of sentence from Atlanta, Ga.. federal penitentiary in 1925 after spending more than 17 years behind the bars there.
