He then struck the sleeping hoy. and struck several times at his wife, as she lay in UhI with their six months old son. She was successful in warding off his blows, however, and received only superficial wounds. He made no attempt tostrike the baby.The hammer was taken from Napier, by his father-in-law, Elmer Halcom, who then took him to the home of Mrs. A. M.
