A Constable Killed in lies Momes while Making an Arrest Under the Liquor Law • IDes Moines, Iowa, March 7.—Constable Logan this evening went into *i the wholesale drug house of Hurlbut, UgHess Co. to make an arrest of udriver for delivering liquor without apermit. He refused to say whether he -had a warrant for the arrest or not, and while engaged in controversy with J the employes drew a revolver and commenced tiring. Joe Rowe, one of the employes, returned the tire shooting fl Logan, through the breast, killing him J immediately. Rowe was arrested and that he tired in self defense. JAnother dispatch says Logan’s re- Uvoiver was not discharged at all, every chamber being loaded and in his hand 1 when his body was taken in charge. This fact disproves Row’s story. Logan [{ was a quiet, gentlemanly officer, notinclined to exceed his authority. He Jleaves a wife a family.
