HILL IN LABORATORY'.“Burch,” the Hawkeye mascot, which has been causing so much excitement about the university and surrounding country of late, has at last been located and is now safely lodged in the care of the university taxidermist, Homer R. Dill. For some time past, there has been much speculation as to what has become of the pet which had grown to be of large proportions. Reports have been rife as to his death, his long winter siesta, his prank which he played in fooling “Jimmy” into thinking he was hibernating when in reality he was only taking a nap and waiting for a good chance to gain his freedom, his escape from his pit in the park and the depredations which he has been committing in the hen roosts near the city, and many other stories of his experiences. And now again he has been located and this time in the hands of the official university taxidermist. As to how he came here the authorities refuse to divulge but. it is now generally believed that “Burch,” having become accustomed to university life and association and having for a time been deprived of his friend, died of a broken heart and his body found and turned over to the taxidermist. At any rate his body is to be stuffed and Burch” will soon occupy a place of prominence in the natural science building together with the other denizens of the woods that have met a similar fate to his.
