Stevens Draws Long TermOn Burglary, Arson CountsFranklin J. Stevens.Woodruff man who had deniedparticipating in a series of 11 summer home burglaries and the burning of a twelfth place in the Mm-ocqua-Woodruff aiea today suddenly changed his plea to guilty ashb trial was about to start in Cit-euit Court here.Jerald J Boileau imposed concurrent terms of five years each on the 11 burglaries and an additional five-year term on the arson charge, with the additional sentence to run consecutively to the other 11 concurrent terms, fie sentenced Stevens to Green Bay reformatory but later changed the sentence to Waupun prison at Stevens’ request.In imposing sentence. J u d g e j Boileau commented owners ofsummer properties have a right to exject these cottages and homes to be protected during their absence. He said these summer places add much to the economy of the north and wholesale burglaries such as ; those committed by Stevens might tend to discourage people from owning valuable property and paying taxes.
