BRAKHMAN BPASM.Y SHOTA Negro With Murderous Design.Pound Stealing a Itide.While putting a negro off a train who was stealing lt;a ride on an eas bound freight, Brakeman Thomas Beasley, of the Southern Pacific, was shot in the abdomen at Schurz station formerly known as Cibolo, about twenty miles east of San Antonio. thismorning at 3 o'clock. |The train had stopped and Beaslev was inspecting U when he discovered « negro on the trucks of one of thecars. He ordered him out and thelatter responded With a pistol shot.The bullet struck Beasley in thestomach and the negro fled and disappeared in the brush. It 'is believedthat the weapon used was a six-shooter.Beasley was brought to the city andtaken to the Santa. Ro^a infirnxirv where Dr. Amos Graves, Jr., is attending him. Beasley lives at 117 River avenue.Police headquarters and the sheriff s office have been notified and Captain John Wllkens went to the scene of the shooting with his bloodhounds in the hope of capturing the shootist
