The New Albany Ledger-Standard publishes an account of the Moody-Tolliver difficulty, which is supposed to have led to the killing of Thomas Moody, at Orleans, Orange county, this State, on the night of Tuesday last. It was the result of a quarrel between two families in that section, in regard to the right of property, of which Thomas Moody died possessed. Mrs. Moody was a sister of the Tollivers,and an attempt was made by the Moodys to deprive Mrs. Moody of the right in that property. They accused her in a suit, several years ago, of having stolen §8,000 from her husDand. The courts decided that she could not steal from herhusband. An attempt was then made to intimidate her and herbrottyfrs, and in 1872, it was believ-ecfthat the Tollivers undertook toassassinate the family of the Moodys. All attempts to fasten this crime on the Tollivers, however, failed. It is supposed that on Tuesday night last, either some of the Tollivers, or some one hired by them, assassinated Thomas Moody. The act was a most cowardly oqfg and can no fled v The assassifired on Moody, arm shot entered his body, from effects of which he diednext morning at 11 o’clock. The coroner ofOrange county held an examination, the result of which has not yet been ascertained. The county commissioners now offer a rewardof §1,000 for the arrest of the assassin, and have asked the governor of the state to offer a similar reward. There is intense excitement in regard to the matter, and the people express themselves as prepared to aid the authorities in ferreting out the guilty parties.
