Three children beaten to deathAUSTIN lt;AP) — A 21-year-old man broke into his next-door neighbors' home early Saturday and bludgeoned three children to death with a lead pipe after sexually assaulting one of them, police saidJames Carl Lee Davis was charged Saturday afternoon with one count of capital murder by Municipal Court Judge Wilfred Aguilar who denied bond.Austin police Sgt. Lloyd Sigler said the attack occurred between 1 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. He said the man sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl in the bedroom of her northeast Austin home. Another girl who was in the bedroom screamed and the man “then turned on her,” Sigler said.“He then attacked two smaller children in the same bedroom, he said.Tony Johnson, 3, and Tyrone Johnson, 6, were pronounced dead at the scene, and Yvette Johnson, 15, was pronounced dead about an hour later at Brackenridge Hospital, Sfgler said. He said all the victims were beaten on the head with a lead pipe.Angela Varnado, a 14-year-old cousin of the children, ran from the house. Siger said she was listed in serious condition at Brackenridge Hospital. He said a 12-year-old boy hid during the attack and escaped injury. Davis was arrested a short time later at his home, Sigler said.“It was said that he was taking speed and drinking, Sigler said.
