Pije 3Dauber gets six year termA former Blue Island man who was found guilty of conspiracy and several counts of fraud last month was sentenced Tuesday to six years in jail.William “Billy” Dauber, 36, who is reputed to have crime syndicate connections, was given the sentence by District court Judge Phillip Tone.Dauber and 12 others were charged by the U.S. Attorney’s office with stealing more than$1,000,000 in commissions in a mortgage fee scheme operating under the name “Church of Christ Manors, Inc.1*Assistant U.S. Attorney Matt Leyden said Dauber and the others were charged with committing mail fraud, wire fraud and* falsfly representing the assets of their company.It was charged that the Church of Christ Manors Inc. arranged mortgages and construction loans forbuilding projects and collected fees for the worlr but never met commitments or returned the money.Barnes “the bomber” Catuara, a reputed south suburban syndicate leader,a*.and eight other men were ' acquitted of their alleged parts in the scheme.Dauber is also currently under indictment on a \ murder charge in Lake county, Indiana. , *
