JURYHolds Killing of Owsley JustifiedCoroner’s Court, However, Bolds Former Indiana Woman OverFor Possible Indictment, After Gt anting tbe Self-Defense MotiveReported She Shot a Woman In Madison in 1905St. Louis, Mo , March 3 — A ver. diet of homicide in self-defense was returned today by a Coroner’s jury iu the case of Mrs. Ada Owsley, formerly of Madison, Ind., who shot and killed her husband, Benjamin S. Owsley, at their home here Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Owsley and all witnesses were held for the grandj iry, however, which began its in* vestigation of the Jrilling.Mrs. Owsley, who had been a prisoner under observation at tbe City Hospital,was taken to the Municipal Courts Building in a patrol wagon. She became hysterical on the way, crying:“Don’t let him beat me any more.”As she reached the Coroner’s witness room Mrs. Owsley ran to the arms of Edward Ricketts, a son by her first marriage, and sobbed in bis embrace throughout the early part of the inquest.Mrs. Owsley was not placed on the witness stand, Fatrolmen Hughes, Fritsche and Rohlfing testifying she had signed a written confession before them at the hospital, telling her story of the shooting. This was read at the inquest.Robert B. Owsley, her stepson, testified that, when he was living with his father and Mrs. Owsley, he heard her boast of her ability as arevolver shot. He also testified he had heard that she shot a woman at Madison, Ind., in 1905.
