Bigger 35-year old Edgerton factory worker, today faced a mandatory life sentence in the Ohio penitentiary as the result of being found guilty of second degree murder in the “dare” slaying of his wife, Helen, 34.Hugh Schatzer of Bryan was | foreman of the Williams county jury that reported at 4 p. m. Wednesday, after four hours deliberation. The prosecution had asked for a first degree murder verdict, with death penalty. Under the second degree con-viction, Bigger will be eligible to parole in 20 years, with time off for good behavior. This could reduce his sentence to around 13years, attorneys said.After the shotgun slaying on Jan. 2, Bigger had confessed that his wife “dared” him to shoot her and “I did.”Formal sentencing of Bigger by Judge Russell Maxwell was expected to await decision by Lewis B.
