EATH ROWAffected Texas Prisoners ListedWASHINGTON CAP) - Here is a Texas breakdown on defendants whose death sentences were directly set aside by the Supreme Court yesterday.All of the defendants had appeals or petitions pending before the high court. The justices ordered the death sentences set aside and instructed lower courts to apply the 5-4 decision that the death penalty as presently used in the United States isunconstitutional.The majority of the 600 defendants on death rolls in 31 states did not have appeals pending in the high court. The 5-4 decision presumably willwipe out their death sentencesalso.Reginald Edison Wright, sentenced for murder.Charles C. Smith, sentencedin 1966 for rape in Harris County.Israeli Position Receives ShellTEL AVIV (AP) — A gunner in Syria fired one mortar shell at an Israeli army position near the junction of the Syrian, Jordanian and Israeli borders early today, the Israelis reported.There w ere no casualties and the fire was not returned, theIsraelis said.Robert Eddie Louis Jackson, sentenced in Newton County in the murder of Mrs. Mathew Bowie.Roy Earl David, convicted of slaying Bob Farley in a Harris County drive - in grocery holdup in 1967.Theo Ray Thames, convicted of the fatal shooting of Billy Guy Tolleson, operator of the Starlight Club in Fort Worth.Cornelius Tea, convicted of the 1970 murder of Robert Farley at the checkout counter of a Harris County store.Samuel Matthews, convicted of fatally shooting the Lavaca County sheriff in 1969 while being transported to the county jail in Hallettsville.Arlice J. Huffman, convicted of the fatal stabbing of Harry S. Crigar, a 76-year-old hotel operator in Harris County.Leopoldo Morales.Calvin Sellars, convicted of armed robbery of Mari Schepp in Harris County in 1964.Billy Stanley, convicted of killing Linda Magers Stanley with his fists in 1969 in McKinney.Elmer Branch, convicted ofrape.F. L. McKenzie, sentenced in Tarrant County for the murder of W. C. Davis, Jr.Robert Curry, convicted in 1969 in McLennan County of murdering his 4-year-old son, Ronald.
