COYOTE RIFLE RILLS 2 BOYSOld Colony Man Heldfor Tragedy NearBootjackArne Palosaari. 2*9. df Old Polony. is being hold at the Houghton county jail on a tentative charge of manslaughter in connectionwith the fatal shooting of a 14-! year-old Rootjack boy and a 10-! vear-old Calumet boy. Palosaari ! said that be fired his ,‘50-30 rifle when lie saw a movement in the brush which he thought wascaused by coyotes.The victim^ are Raymond Hil-funen son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hultinen, who reside on a farm inthe Rabbit Dav district. near%Bootjack, 10 miles east of LakeLinden, and his cousin, ArthurKnnl Beck, son of Mr. arid Mrs.j Km 11 Reck of 2223 Middle street,| Raymbaultown. The Reck boydied in Rake Superior (ieneral hospital, Rake Linden, Saturday j afternoon at 113. i Young Hiltunen was killed instantly when be was shot through the head. The Reck boy, who went to the Hiltunen farm last Saturday, \vas shot through both lungs, the bullet entering his right J shoulder and coming out at thef left side.Despite (he fact that Palosaari has adhered to his original story, thf» theory persists that he had a rifle in his car and took it to Bootjack for the purpose of hunting deer.Palosaari is married and thefather of several children.The tragedy occurred at ti o’clock at th*‘ Rukojarvi farm. Palosaari told officers that he and his familv went to the farm Fri-ftday to visit the Lukojarvis. Rukojarvi. lie said, had told him that there were covotes in the vicinity% Vand he went to his car to get his rifle Standing near the car, ho fired two shots into the brush 140 feet away, whore he said he saw something move The rifle Is a high-powered type commonly used by deer hunters.After the second shot, a you tiger brother of the Hiltunen hoy ran from the brush shouting “Youhave shot my brother.’’Palosaari and Rukojarvi then went into the woods and found the two hoys shot, one dead.
