Peter Tronea( Barr’s Drug Store in Battle Creek Saturday night.Trone was well-known throughout Michigan as a top horseman and participated in many of the horse shows in the state. Annually, he took part in the Castle Park Horse Show and won many top awards.Wolfe said he demanded money o! Trone and shot the drug store owner when Trone lunged at him.Trone was shot in the right lung. He died in a local hospital, an hour and a half later, after emergency surgery.Wolfe escaped by running; through a plate glass door. Two j men who were working on a hot rod. James Fulton and Robert Lovelady. started chasing the bandit and cornered him at a fence. But they were forced to back away when Wolfe pretended he had a gun.However, the gun was left on the floor of the drugstore. Police traced the registration number to Wolfe’s address in Grand Rapids.The robber also left his shoes behind in his haste to escape. When Wolfe was captured he was barefooted and had multiple cuts.Police said Wolfe, a native of Battle Creek, had a long record including larceny and breakingend entering convictions. Wolfe refused to implicate Chrzanowski in the crime. I
