Police Hold Man ,Who Confessed$20,000 Theft !SAN FRANCISCO lt;U.R —Theodore Roosevelt Xanthull, 29, | was held for Portland, Ore., authorities today after he told police he stole more than $26,000 in securities and payroll checks from a safe in Portland lastTuesday.Xanthull was arrested Friday when an accomplice, George T. Lattin, 37, pointed him out as the man who suggested he cash a payroll check and split the proceeds.Xanthull took police to his room, where they found $17,000 in securities. Ho said he used $2,000 in negotiable bonds as security for a $1,200 loan from a Portland bank. jHe also confessed to three other construction company burglaries in Washington, in which $1,600 in payroll checks were taken.Xanthull has served three prison terms for auto theft.
