Aggravated AssaultAt 7 p.m. Maddux was called to investigate an aggravated assault case at the Joe Medford residence in Sealy. J. W. Sailer went to the residence with a pistol and demanded that his wife, who was visiting there, go with him. She refused and he hit her, knocking her down. In the scuffle that followed she knocked the pistol out of his hand. Cloyd Montgomery, who rooms at the Medford’s, came in and took the pistol away, removed the shells and returned it to Sailer after Sailer promised to leave, Maddox said.An argument followed and Montgomery got a tire tool out of his car. Sailer grabbed the tire tool and began beating Montgomery over the head with his pistol. Medford came oui of the house and stopped the fight.Montgomery was admitted to Sealy hospital and released following first aid treatment.Sailer is out on a $500 appearance bond and is to appear in county court before Judge Weldon Davis as soon as Mrs. Sailer can be contacted in Houston, Maddox said.
