Poachers Caught Shooting Fish at Lake Near EvelethOpen violations of the stategame and fish laws at Halt Moon lake near Eveleth Wednesday led to a fight between a well known Virginia sportsman and a resident of Eveleth who was one of a party of four who were shooting fish with dyuamite in the lake. The poacher was pulled out of his boat into the lake aud into the boat of the Virginia man after he had stated that he was not afraid of the game wardens since George Wood waa discharged and that it was nobody's business where he fished or how. The quartette has killed a consider-siderable quantity of fish when their operations were observed and the Virginia rowboat put out trom the ahore and overtook them red-handed. -Warrants will be issued for four as a result and there is general indignation over the incident. At another summer resort a short distance from this city where there is a summer colony a shacker showed up this week with a fresh moose liver which he offered for sale. Other flagrant and open violations of the game laws are reported. Local sportsmen were yesterday interesting themselves in plans to check the campaign of illegal hunting and fishing which has begun in this section since the discharge of former Game Warden Wood.
