Conspiracy of OfEctr* and Em-pros* Dctocti too Agam* Chart** P.Stanton __Charlea P. Stanton is out in two columns of The Miner, showing up what he calls “ a black and moat infamous conspiracy * against himself to enable the conspirator* to accomplish a dia boiical purpose, etc. If his story is true, it is high time the people of Arizona took some action to protect them-selves from illegal and vicious arrests by reward hunters and officers whose right names are blackmailer* and oppressor* and whose proper treatment would be a summary hanging or shoot-ing down. Stanton's atory is too long for our columns, but iu importance demands that some points be given. He was arrested for stealing a specimen of gold on March C. 1879, on a warrant sworn out by W. J. Tompkins, erf Prescott, and wnfi placed in jail by Under Sheriff Herbert He was informed by the Sheriff and others that the charge was a trumped-up one andj amounted to nothing, but that evidence was being bunted up on which to base a very grave and serious one, no leas than the murder of Timmerman, of Antelope Station. On a writ of habeas corpus, Stanton was released from prison after an exhaustive hearing be-fore Court Commissioner HargTave. The whole case as given in The Miner has been reported to the General Superintendent of Wells, Fargo A Co.
