LOUIS IN SPURIOUS BOND DEALST I.OUIS June 2« I “Count”Victor Lustig, whose metlculmx* dress, foreign accent and claim to nobility make up his stock in trade, was ar rented last night at the Coronado hotel. «» he was preparing, bo he told police, to swindle a Kansas City business man out of $40,000 in a counterfeit liberty bond transaction.tAistig said his potential victim left, the hotel with the promise that he was to bring back $40,000 for which the “count was to give him $80,000 worth of spurious liberty bonds.He told the detective chief he showed the Kansas City man two genuine bonds worth $180 which he ! had smeared with soap and water and invited his proposed victim to show them to government men, and assure himself of the excellence of »the “counterfeit*.”
