J., June 2lt;L — No uddi-tionnl light wns thrown on the strange drowning of Mary Vennell in Sunset lake, although many witnesses testified at the inquest into the girl's death held by Coroner Illtehner. After all theevidence was in the coroner's jury returned u verdict which left the case practically where It stood on the day after the drowning. The district attorney was asked by the jury to continue his Investigation. In regard to the actions of George C. Evans, who wns with the girl when she was drowned, the jury found:“The explanation of the said George 0. Evans as to the capsizing of the boat, the deserting by him of the drowning girl whom he left to her fate without spreading any alarm, his subsequent actlobs In running home and going to bed, with his apparent laek of knowledge as to how the deceased came to have a bruise on her njouth, combine to create u sutticieut doubt-in the minds of the jury as to te$exact cause of the drowning, so they direct by their verdict a further Investigation of tlie matter by the prosecuting attorney.•»Ex-Alderman Murphy a Suicide.
