THE HEW HAVEH PIC-HICA Fln« AflUr—Larf« Crowd—Bummer* Md Prostitutes In Trouble,[Correspondence of the Sentinel.]New Haven, June 22.—The picnic yesterday was a grand success, a very large and respectable crowd being pres* ent, composed of many citizens from all parts of the county. A large number of politicians, of course, were on hand. Nothing transpired to mas the pleasure of the occasion, until late in the afternoon, when Mollie Nichols, of Fort Wayne, accompanied by two other depraved women, together with a lot of *‘pimps” and “bummers” put in their appearance, which caused the wildest excitement and indignaticn among all present. The Committee of Arrangements peremptorily ordered them to leave, which they refused to do. A fight commenced between MoUie Nichols’ “bnmmers” and some respectable gentlemen living in that vicinity, which bid fair to result in broken heads and bloody noses, had not Sheriff Hance and Marshal Kelly put in their appearance and stopped the fight, and ordered Mollie and her “bummers” to leave peremptorily, which they did instanter. Order was immediately restored, and the picnic closed with the most gratifying results.Sheriff H ance and Marshal Kelly received the thanks of the Committee of Ar-rangments and all present, for their promptness in dispersing the crowd of Fort Wayne “bummers” and the entire Nichols “clan.” Their presence is not wanted, nor will ic be tolerated among respectable people. If “bummers” and prostitutes expect enjoyment, they must seek it outside of respectable society.
