Tonight, your stories inspire all of us to be better people,'Sharon Potter's supervisor at Partners in Progress says that you can sum up her employment achievements in one word: self-confidence. Until a few years ago, Potter was content doing assembly work. Because she needed a little help in reading and math, she was nervous about doing things on her own.But that changed when she was hired as the facility's custodian. From there, Potter moved to the mobile cleaning crew where she worked on state contracts. She then branched out to churches, offices and even private homes. Today, Potter has her own snow shoveling business. Her supervisor says she is an excellent cleanerand patient mentor to new crewmembers. One of her long term goals is to create a private nouse-cleaning business.In her spare time, Potter enjoyswalking, attending local basketball games, participating in the Special Olympics bowling and watching NASCAR on television. When it comes to her job, Potter says she enjoys the challenge andvariety in her cleaning assignments. Bringing a message of hope and empowerment, ne spoke of the foundation he established in the name of his son, the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism, to help less-fortunate families with autistic children.productive members of their community. Senator Mellow represents Lackawanna County, as well as part of Luzerne and Monroe counties.The Nettie Mann Achievement Award is named for an exceptional young woman who tragically died in a 1993 car accident just weeks before being named PIBH Worker of the Year. This distinguished award, including an all-expense paid trip to the award dinner for two, $500 cash gift and plaque, is given to the person who most emulates Mann's enduring legacy of independence and dedication.
