Old Friend SendsBanker To Prison For Twenty YearsMOl'XDSVILLE, June 22—(AP)—Two long-time friends faced each other in court to-day, and one, a judge, sentenced the other, a banker, to 20 years in jail for embezzlement.Carl H. Hunter, 59, cashier and vice president of the closed Mound City Bank, went toprison 15 minutes after Judge James F. Shipman, with whomhe grew up from youth, imposed the sentence in a scarcely audible voice.Indicted on 11 counts, charging embezzlement of $44,794, making improper entries, and returning false statements to the banking commissioner, Hunter pleaded guilty to one count of $3,416. The otherswere set aside.A former state senator, Hunter and his father founded the bank a quarter of a century ago. It was closed in April.
