Taylor and John Thomas were sentenced Thursday afternoon by Judge Albert H. F. Seeger at the close of the criminal part of the June trial term of the ; County Court Taylor was seat to the New York County Penitentiaryfor one year and Thomas was sent i to the Elmiijt Reformatory for an in- -definite term.The two men were convicted of as- ; saulliug and robbing Gottlieb Betke ; after an all day carousal in the . Spasm Flats in William street. 1 The trial brought out that both men ' have '’done time’’ before *Charles Stevens, a negro living in 1 Goshen, was sentenced to four jears 1 and six months at hard labor in Sing Sing prison. He was convicted of a j imirdei eus assault on a white man in Goshen, following a free for all fighL Three men were accused of this assault. The other two were acquitted bj the Jurj. When Stevens’ pedigree i was taken, he told Jut;e Seeger that he haul not used a knife on his vio-lime.
