COURTThe $10,000 fine assessed against'j the late Angelo Benettl following | j his conviction or income tax evasion' was abated this week by the federal circuit court in San Francisco, and costs of $2000 also were abated. The court’s action followed a motion by Benetti’s attorneys, Platt and Sinai.The government’s claims for some $48,000 in taxes allegedly not paidmay be pressed against the Benettl estate, it was stated today.Benettl died in Reno on May 11 of this year, and according to estate papers filed in the district court, his estate is valued at more than $10.-000.” A daughter, Mrs. Orlanda Sorensen, is seeking to be named administratrix.The income tax charges against Benettl were filed last year, and he j was convicted after a trial in the | federal district court at Carson, Ap-| peal was made to the circuit court,I which announced its decision up-; holding the Nevada court shortly ! after Benetti’s death. The govern- ' | ment contended that Benetti had I not paid the full tax cn his income I for ten years. Benettl was engaged in the slot machine and liquor business in Reno and Sparks for many years. \The government also sought to collect $8200 in alcohol taxes from Benettl. [
