June 14th another wss a given five years. In all cases thus cited the defendant entered a plea of guilty.On Monday the case of the State of Texas vs. Adolph Sher-pig, charged with murder, was called. 70 special venire men were used and 100 talesmen sum-1 ra raoned, a hot legal battle was fought, and there was much speculation on the part of coun* se sel on both sides. On Thursday forenoon a verdict was rendered giving the defendant five years in the penitentiary. The same verdict was rendered in this case i a\ in a previous trial, and the case; was appealed, reversed and re manded. Sherpig was charged with the [killing, of Oswald Richter. Coming up for trial at this term of court, the legal battle started Monday and was raging P Wednesday.
