The bystander againremonstrated.McDermott then pulled a gun and hit the bystander on the head. ThWcaused his gun to explode and thebullet ploughed through the bystander’s scalp. The crowd scurried backto the boat.The excursionists claim none oftheir party had been in a saloonup to this time.When called on the telephone thisafternoon Marshal McDermott statedthat he had pulled his gun and struckthe man over the head with it. Accidentally ft had exploded andhat. Mrhad gone through the man’s McDermott further statedcrowd, of whichwiimanwas one, had already been in a saloon prior to the fracas onstreet,and that he had ordered all womenout of the saloons in Chena a shorttime prior to the occurrence.
