Mr,Thomas F. Ahderson, sheriff of Calvertcounty, says that when he testified in the Whittle lynching case before the Jury of inquisition that he recognized Mr. PolkLyons among1 the parties that raided the jail, he whs relying entirely upon a recognition, as he thought, of Mr. Lyons’s voioe, and having more carefully considered the events of that night he does not now feel that hecould sav under oath that Mg. Lyons was intne party.
