C :Friday night, ulout twelve o’clock thieyes entered the residence of DickJones, who lives on Flatroek In German township, and after administering chlorform to him proceeded to ransack the house for money. Their noise awakened Mr. Jones’ son Sherman, who sprang-from his bed as ho saw two large men standing near liiin. They ruslicd out past him and he fired two or three shots after them but could not tell whether any of them took effect'or not. The scoundrels dropped the pocket book which contained $90 and some valuable papers in the chicken yard, but they had stripped, it of the money. Mr. Jones did not hear any of the shots or noise, so thoroughly was he | under the influence of the drug.He thinks the thieves followed him from Edinburg, where he is in the reaper business, and knew he had money. He awakened his neighbors and scoured the neighborhood until morning for the thieves but no clue was obtained. It was a high handed outrage, and it is a pity that the shots of the plucky boy did not take effect on the villians.
