W. Searles and it is believed that the final shipment will be received some time this week, and they will be issued throughout the entire department next week. Thi at V cha Eni is : st, sq hal parThe reason for the change from the announcement that the armand sword’’ will decorate the new badge.old-style badge, which has been the official designation of a Boston police officer for scores of years, is said to be because there are hundreds of tha badges in circulation without official sanction.At Police Headquarters yesterday it was said that many members of the old Police Department” still have their police badge, which Is of the same I style as that now used by the department. Commissioner Wilson stated that department officials believe that some of the present pbllcemen have extra badges, e i which they can easily obtain by deelar-j I ing they have'lost their original one and by the payrfrent of $1 for a new issue. The new badge can be easily distin-i i gulshed from the old one by a casual glance. The new badge is of heavier material, is five-sided, with fancy markings along eacb side of the length of the badge, similar to the present one, but the arm and sword will be at the top. In the center Is the seal of the n city of Boston, above which is the word ‘•Police,” gnd under the seal Is Boston.'*
