One was Sheriff Chris Kohl, of Madison, who is a man of large proportions, while the other was his prisoner, John McDaniel, who was not much more t ha a a mere skeleton.McDaniel is one of three dynamiters convicted at Madison Wednesday and sentet cod to two years each at Jeffer so.'sville. The other two are Thomas Donkin and William .Starling. The latter arrived yesteMay morning. Donkin was formerly the ov ner of a tough resort at Mad ison known as the “Red Onion” saloon. Business became dull with Donlan, and the doors of the “Red t bvon were closed. Ned Coyle a gambler. well known in Lomsuille, owned the building in which the business was carried on and had paid KiisyMoore $ I •(, that he owed him, to -tart the place again. This was Janu ary IS last, and the “Red Onion was again doing a flourishing business. Donlan did not like to see the saloon thriving as it did and formed a plot with McDaniel and Starling to blow it skyward, which they did on the night of April IS, wrecking the building and scaring a number of people nearly to death. It required ten days to convict the former proprietor of the “Red Onion and his partners, and nothing else was talked of in the town during that time.
