Graffiti boy slips loseA North Side couple nearly caught a youth Tuesday who may be responsible for dozens of incidents of graffiti in the city, police said.James and Sharon Nitzke of Lodi Street told police they were passing by Garafalo's grocery store at 8:30 p.m. when they saw a youth painting the northeast corner of the building. The youth held a large aerosol can of blue paint and was spraying “Ji Cool” on the building, police said. The Nitzkes yelled at the youth, who dropped the can and ran north on Lodi Street. Mr. Nitzke chased the boy but lost him when the youth got on a bicycle and rode off, police said.Police say they have a suspect and will be following up with an investigation. The phrase J. Cool can be found on dozens of buildings, walls and bridges in Syracuse.“There must be hundreds of J. Cools around the city,” police Captain Dean Bender said. “They’re everywhere. Of course, we don't really know if they're all from the same person, but they sure look like it.”
