Perkins, of thePerkins Laboratories at Omaha chief designing engineer.-, on the project, stated in an interview this morning, after spending the weekend inspecting the pool and conferring with those in charge of itsconstruction.Mr. I eikins said that differentpools have different advantages andimprovements, but the one here embodies all the very latest id.as in ultra-modern public pools His firm has deslsnrrt more- than 70 it th” largest pools in the country, and heconsiders the one here his masterpiece.Among the outstanding features he pointed out the continuous washing and sterilizing of the entire floor and sidewall area of the pool; complete change of the 550,000 gallons of water every six hours; sterilized showers and foot baths for every bather before e tering thepool; bathhouse accommodationsfor 1,200 people at one time: poolaccommodations for 4,000 people at * one time; pri*ate dressing booths, private showers, amphitheater for spectators; sand beach; separatepool for children and many other features.Mr. Perkins recommended that thepool be not filled with water until the filters are completed, and that the water enter the pool originally through the filters to be sterilized and filtered, so that it will be crystal clear from the beginning. Work is being rushed on the filters, and water will start running into the big pool Thursday. The opening is planned for Sunday.The 1200 suits of bright colors, ordered for the pool, arrived today, and other equipment, including beach umbrellas, spring boards, chutes, water wheel, water top, etc.. will be installed in the next few* days. Inquiries have been received from a wide area about the opening date, and writh R. W. Barsalou planning an elaborate water program, a capacity crowd is expected.
