EVIDENCE FAVORS WALTERS.Witnesses Support Contention of Robeson County Man That Boy With Him Was Not Dunbar Child.New Orleans Dispatch, 7th.Further evidence in support of the contention of W. C. Walters that the boy found in his possession at Columbia, Miss., several weeks ago is not Robert Dunbar,'who disappeared from his home in Opelousas, La., last August, was introduced at a special hearing to investigate the boy’s identity here today. Six witnesses, all residents of Pearl River county, Mississippi, testified that the child recovered from Walters and claimed by C. P. Dunbar, as his missing son, was with the itinerant tinker in that vicinity several weeks before the Dunbar boy’s disappearance.At the sight of only one of the witnesses did the five-year old boy, brought here from Opelousas for the hearing show any signs of recognition. When Jeptha Bilbo appeared the child in reply to a question, said:“That’s Bilbo.” Bilbo testified that Walters and the boy known as Bruce Anderson, spent several days at his home in July, last.Today’s hearing was held at the request of Governor Elrl Brewer, of Misssissippi, who refused to honor requisition papers from Louisiana for Walters, held at Columbia, suspected with kidnaping Robert Dunbar, until further investigation had been made.Besides Jeptha Bilbo those who identified the boy today as the same that accompanied Walters last July were Mrs. Jeptha Bilbo, Mr. and Mrs. H. A, Goldman and Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Miiley.
