It all started in April of '85. I have no idea.But he said he wants to plead guilty.My attorneys don't want me to. Why should I pleadnot guiltv? he said, 'i'd have more of a chance for not getting the death penalty.Despite his court-appointed attorneys' objections, Green said he decided to call the Star-Telcgram because one lawyer listened Tuesday to his complaints about jail treatment, but nothing changed by Friday.The defendant said he started a hunger strike Thursday morning to protest what he called squalid jail conditions. He said he won't end the fast until he meets with Sheriff Don Carpenter to discuss his grievances.I ain't got nothing to lose, said Green.Authorities said they believe both women were killed in the Greens' mobile home in Boyd. Mrs. Green, held in Wise County jail, has not been indicted in the Tarrant Countv cases.-Sharon Green went to police April 25 about the slayings and said she was forced to watch w'hile her husband killed the two women, police said.Investigators said Mrs. Green told them her husband was having sex with the women and stabbing them at the same time.She later told officials she took part in the stabbing of the women, but only because she was afraid of what Ricky Green would do to her if she refused, investigators said.Her husband disputes those statements.Sharon said I forced her to kill these women. I didn t force her to do nothing, Green told the newspaper. It was as much her fault as it was mine.Suzie Johnson, Green's defense attorney, said: I think it's obvious to any reasonably minded person that this is just a young man not in his right mind. He doesn't know' what he's doing or what he's saying.
