Crook, retired railroad man who owned the cabin, was found the next day in a shallow grave nearby.Papers Unking Speegle to the crime were found in a nearby cave and set off an extensive manhunt in this mountainous north Arkansas area.Speegle, who was AWOL from Ft. Lewis, Wash., at the time, was arested two weeks later in Oklahoma when he was recognized by ar ex-sheriff who knew him when be lived in Borger. Tex.Dr. .George Jackson, state hospital superintendent, after examination. declared him sane but apparently suffering amnesia.However; last month state police Lt. Carl Miller and prosecutor Eugene Moore of Harrison announced Speegle had made a statement that he killed both men ^nd feigned amnesia.Immediately afterward prosecutor Moore scheduled his trial on first-degree murder charges here June 20.
