June 18—Harry Laird, local restaurant proprietor, had a narrow escape from serious injury Thursday while walking across High street. A car said to have been driven by Clifford Redd ran over the toes of both shoes, struck Laird on the left elbow and wrist and brushed his watch chain from his belt as it swept by. Laird recovered from the shock soon enough to warn the driver against any further driving which would endanger pedestrians.ra
